Sony reports quarterly Loss

The key highlights of the 3-month July-September period report: 

  • Sony reports a better than expected loss of $289million.
  • PS3 sales up from 2.4 million units to 3.2 million units.
  • Declining sales of VAIO laptops, Bravia HDTV's and Sony-Ericcson mobile phones.
  • PS2 sales down by 1.9 million units, comparatively less than the 2.5 million units shortfall in July-Sept 2008.
  • PSP sales down from  3.2 million units to 3.0 million units.
  • An increase in music revenues, thanks to good sales of Michael Jackson's albums.
